Richmond Rotary Club April 20265. “Female Agents Behind Enemy Lines”

“We had the pleasure of welcoming Kathryn Gauci, international bestselling author of 13 compelling historical fiction novels, to speak at our Rotary Club of Richmond meeting on Monday 4th April.

Her powerful presentation, “Female Agents Behind Enemy Lines”, brought to life the extraordinary bravery of WWII heroines—SOE operatives, resistance fighters, and unsung women like Greek heroine Lela Karagiannis and Russian sniper Lyudmila Pavlichenko.

As someone who has read all of Kathryn’s books, I find her writing not only gripping and rich in twists, but deeply human and real. Her first novel, The Embroiderer, remains my favourite—a masterpiece of storytelling.

Kathryn is not only a brilliant writer, but also a humble, creative, and humanitarian soul. Her talk reminded us all of the power of resilience, the cost of freedom, and the importance of always choosing peace.

We were honoured to have her—and even more honoured to applaud the women whose stories she so beautifully honours.
